Quick Convert: Unit & Currency Privacy Policy
Truthy Systems (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Quick Convert: Unit & Currency mobile application (“the App”). We are fully committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring a transparent, secure environment.
This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is processed, your rights regarding that information, and how we keep your experience private and secure. By installing and using the App, you acknowledge the terms described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Introduction
We design our applications to be secure, fast, and privacy-centric. Quick Convert is engineered as an offline-first utility. This means that nearly all computations, conversion history tracking, and favorite bookmarks are managed natively on your device without transmitting data to external servers.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Unlike typical tracking applications, we believe in radical data minimization:
No Account Creation: You do not need to create an account, register, or sign in using email, phone numbers, or social media credentials. You use this App entirely anonymously.
No Personal Identity Harvesting: We do not collect, view, or store personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, physical address, email address, contact list, or biometric details.
No Server-Side Conversion Logging: Your conversion logs, favorites, and configuration inputs are never sent to our servers.
3. Information We Process and Collect
While we do not collect personal identity files, certain technical processes are necessary to handle live conversion services, display supportive ads, and monitor app health.
3.1 Local Device Storage (Conversion Data)
The App utilizes a secure, local SQLite database on your device (via the Drift framework) to save your conversion log history, watchlist preferences, and favorites. This data remains 100% sandboxed within the App's secure partition and is never uploaded or transmitted to us.
3.2 Network and API Requests (Live Rates)
When you request live exchange updates for the 165+ world currencies, the App communicates with our third-party provider, ExchangeRate-API.
What is sent: Standard secure HTTPS requests containing the requested base currency code (e.g., USD).
What is not sent: No IP addresses, device identifiers, or usage logs are attached to this request by us.
3.3 Third-Party Advertising and Analytics
The App is free-to-use and supported by mobile advertising. We integrate the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to serve banner ads, native dashboard tiles, and rewarded videos (used to temporarily unlock advanced scientific models).
The AdMob SDK may automatically collect and process certain anonymous technical identifiers:
Device Identifiers: Mobile Advertising IDs (Android Advertising ID or iOS IDFA).
Technical Metadata: Operating system version, device model, carrier, IP address, and generalized coarse location data (such as country or region).
Ad Interaction Logs: Timestamps of ad views, video completions, and clicks.
4. Third-Party Services and Partners
We only partner with trusted services that match our commitment to user security. Below are the third-party providers integrated into the App:
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK): Utilized to display personalized or non-personalized mobile advertisements.
Privacy Link: Google Privacy & Terms
ExchangeRate-API: Utilized to fetch live financial exchange rates.
Privacy Link: ExchangeRate-API Terms & Privacy
5. How We Use Your Information
Any information processed through the App is used strictly for the following purposes:
1. App Functionality: To convert measurements, run calculations, and dynamically update currency exchange rates.
2. Local Caching: To store offline currency rate backups in your local SQLite partition, protecting against connection failure.
3. Advertising Operations: To serve, limit repetition, and evaluate the performance of mobile advertisements.
4. App Improvement: To analyze anonymous error logs in the event of an app crash, helping us quickly issue stability patches.
6. Data Security
Because all your primary user inputs, history records, and configurations reside locally on your device, the security of this data depends on your physical device security.
App Sandbox: The local SQLite database is isolated within the operating system’s secure app sandbox, preventing other installed apps from accessing your database files.
Network Encryption: All outbound exchange rate API queries are handled using industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) / HTTPS encryption protocols.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
User-Controlled Deletion: Since all conversion history, watchlists, and favorite parameters are stored locally on your device, you have complete control over them. You can wipe this data permanently at any time by:
1. Accessing your device’s system settings.
2. Selecting Quick Convert > Storage > Clear App Data.
3. Alternatively, uninstalling the App will permanently delete the local database and all associated records.
Automated Cleanup: To prevent database bloat, our SQLite engine automatically purges conversion history records older than 30 days.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our App is a general-purpose utility and is rated for Everyone / PEGI 3. It does not knowingly target, solicit, or collect information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that the Google AdMob SDK has compiled advertising identifiers from a child under 13 on your device, please adjust your device's Google/Apple child-safety privacy settings or contact us immediately.
9. Regional and Regulatory Disclosures
9.1 European Union (GDPR Compliance)
If you reside within the European Economic Area (EEA), you have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because we do not collect personal identify files, we do not have a mechanism to associate technical data with your physical identity. For personalized advertising, Google AdMob will request your consent (consent dialog box) before serving personalized ads. You can revoke or change your choice at any time within the App settings.
9.2 California (CCPA/CPRA Compliance)
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) requires us to disclose if we "sell" or "share" personal information. We do not sell your personal data. We allow Google AdMob to process generalized technical device identifiers to help serve and measure advertisements. You can reset or opt-out of ad tracking via your iOS/Android native device settings.
9.3 Uganda (Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019)
As a technology company headquartered in Uganda, we comply fully with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. We process minimal technical parameters solely to execute the operations you request (currency fetches) and protect your device's privacy by maintaining all conversion history offline on your physical hardware.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory adjustments. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and placing a notification link within the App's settings screen. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
